Come October 2018 selective licenced HMOs in Liverpool will become Mandatory licences due to the new government regulations to crack down and licence all types of HMOs. This is due to a nationwide campaign to improve the standards in HMOs. The government believes that licencing all size HMOs will increase the standards.

Liverpool Council have confirmed with us that they are yet to receive guidance from Government on how the licences will be transferred.

In particularly we are waiting on direction on whether existing licenced HMOs that generally only need standard doors on bedrooms and only a fire door on the kitchen, and a mains interlinked smoke detection system in the house need to be upgraded to have fire doors throughout and a Part 6A fire system.

Once Liverpool Council receive guidance we will publish an update
