Oh, the sights that you can see in Liverpool are plentiful and interesting. The shops and bars are great for window shopping or finding treasures you didn´t know you wanted and for relaxing with a beverage after a great meal. But there´s so much more in Liverpool that needs exploring.
The Hilbre Islands are an archipelago consisting of 3 islands, with Hilbre being the largest. The 2 smaller ones are Middle Eye and Little Eye. They are a must visit place, as long as you´re up to walking. Yes, you read that right – you can walk to the Hilbre Islands when the tide is low. Remember to get the tide times as the island is cut off from the mainland for 4 hours of every 12. You can see different flora and fauna varying by season and it is not unusual to see Grey Seals swimming off shore. They come onshore when the people leave but you may see some on land, if you´re lucky. Whales and dolphins have also been spotted off shore.
It takes approximately 1 hour to cross the 2 miles to Hilbre but if you´re up to it, it´s well worth it. The views across the Dee Estuary are truly beautiful and the opportunities to see such rare wildlife are exceptional at Hilbre, so grab some warm clothes and suitable footwear and head on out for a unique adventure.
As for the so much more in Liverpool, you can´t have missed seeing the Dream Sculpture. It is the large sculpture of a head situated on the former site of Sutton Manor Colliery in St. Helens. You may not know that you can get up close it by parking in the King George V car park. The climb up to the statue is fairly steep so be wary and be prepared.
Perhaps you want to walk less and play more. Check out the Bright Spot arcade on New Brighton seafront.
